Nancy Van Rooy | President

Joining the Glendale Tennis Club in the spring of 2015 to pursue a new sport of tennis has proven incredibly successful. Nancy has enjoyed many hours of lessons with Head Pro Brian Hurd; socially met wonderful members; participated in leagues and eventually joined the volunteer Board of Directors, all of which have created meaningful experiences for her.

Now, as the President of the largest tennis club in Pickering, Nancy offers to each member a warm welcome to join in and experience all that this fun-filled club of like minded tennis enthusiasts has to offer!


Mark Van Rooy | Vice President

Mark has lived in Pickering for many decades and started playing tennis at Glendale Tennis Club in 2015. The club needed some housekeeping so Mark volunteered as Maintenance Director in 2016. He has held many other positions at Glendale over the years and has loved to give back. Mark has grown to love the game of tennis and hopes to play for many years to come.


Brian Hurd | Club Pro

With over 20 years of playing experience, including 15 years as a certified Tennis Pro, Brian brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the sport. He is a Certified Coach Club Level II, and has a team of dynamic, energetic instructors. Brian’s passionate and innovative teaching methods are designed to meet the needs of all players at all levels of play



Ellen Seyers | Membership Director

Ellen, born and raised in Pickering, is a proud member of the Glendale Tennis Club and took up tennis a few years ago. She has loved learning the sport and embracing the strong sense of community it brings. Passionate about tennis and member engagement, she has served as the club’s Membership Director and enjoys connecting with both new and long-standing members.

Ellen looks forward to continuing to build relationships within the Glendale community. Tennis is such a fun sport for all ages and a wonderful way to meet others with similar interests while staying active and involved.


Dave McCaroll | Treasurer

Dave started playing tennis in East York in the 60’s, his only serious competition was OFSAA in the early 70’s. Dave moved from New Brunswick to Pickering in 1988 and promptly became a GTC member.

Dave volunteered as maintenance director until injury took him out, and has been treasurer at least twice before under several presidents.

What Dave loves about tennis is the fact that it is a life sport and it keeps his heart healthy.


Madhav Khanna | Junior Membership Director

Madhav is the Junior Membership Director for Glendale and he is thrilled to share his passion for tennis with the next generation of players. With a love for the game and a desire to help others improve, Madhav is excited to work with our junior players.

When he’s not on the court, he’s usually brainstorming new games, drills, and ways to make tennis more fun and engaging for his two young girls. Madhav is looking forward to learning and growing alongside our junior players, and helping them develop a lifelong love for the sport.


Diane Bell | Secretary

Diane has been a club member for three years. She plays on the competitive B team and has enjoyed returning to tennis after a 13-year break. Diane loves the club interactions, leagues, and watching everyone have a FUN time!

Olivier Leblond | Tournament Director

Olivier has been a member of the Glendale Tennis Club since 2021 and joined the board in 2025. He's been playing tennis recreationally for close to 15 years and has loved watching his daughter pick-up tennis since the age of 6, being coached by our club pro Brian Hurd since the first time she picked up a raquet. In addition to being the Tournament Director, Olivier also runs our Sunday evening league, focused on creating great matches & friendly competition.


Karen Salter | Social Convenor


John Annibale | Maintenance Director

John has been playing tennis for the last 12 Years. He started playing tennis at the High Park Tennis Club in Toronto and eventully came to the Durham Region Clubs. In the Durham Region, John enjoyed the tennis and people so much that he decided to get involved in the Executives. John was quoted as saying "This year I am so excited to be part of a healthy, well run executive at the Glendale Tennis Club".

John comes from a specialized construction industry which should help in his Maintenance Director role. He also holds a Treasurer's position on the Executive at the Durham Region Classic Mustang Club which also should help in his new role at Glendale.

John is a big believer in supporting local (Durham Region) Charities. He will surely back any inditiatives to support these Charities.
