Membership and Court Access

Who can Join Glendale? ~ Glendale Tennis Club is a community club, with membership available to everyone in Durham Region. Join up! Print and forward the application form now, or for additional information read further, see the side-bar items.

Basic Family Membership ~ provides all family members access to the courts for general play. More -

Basic Single Membership ~ provides a single junior or single adult access to the courts for general play. A Junior single membership application must be signed by the parent or guardian.

Tournament Membership ~ gets you more! For an additional fee (detailed on the application form), individual adult members may extend their basic membership to include all tournaments, the leagues, and the GTC Club Championships. Click here for more information about Tournament membership.

When you join you will get the Glendale Newsletter and Calendar telling you all about what's happening at GTC. The newsletter contains the gate-lock combination, as we must keep the courts locked unless members are present.

Court Access and Shoe-Tags ~ Glendale members will be given a shoe tag (toe tag) valid for the year when they join the club. Shoe tags are not just a fashion statement but a visible sign of membership in good standing, and must be worn at the courts. The shoe-tags are easy to wear and comfortable. Just lace onto your tennis shoe and play! Glendale uses the following colours for membership shoe-tags:

Court Lock ~ The courts are locked when not in use. The combination is shown in the Glendale Tennis Tales newsletter provided with your membership and toe-tag(s). Please keep this number to yourself. Please lock the gate when you are the last one to leave the courts. The combination may be changed during the season, if required.

Court rules ~ posted at the courts. Rules make it possible for many people to enjoy tennis via shared use of the courts. Play is for one half an hour at a time changing on the hour and the half hour.

Courts are available ~ 7 days a week, 08:00 AM to 11:00 PM, but as GTC offers many tennis events as well as lessons, at times some courts will be pre-empted from general play. Please see the calendar for more details, and refer to the court bulletin board where information about changes and updates to schedules will be posted.

Basics / Enjoy at no extra charge ~ Recognising that many of our members are not interested in teams and leagues, the adult Membership (both Basic and Tournament) includes General Play (See Court Availability, above.) plus the following informal events designed for fun and socializing. These are open to all adult members . Mark them on your calendar, then just show up and enjoy!

• Opening Day Round Robin (see Events Calendar or court bulletin board for date)
• Most Sundays - Social Round Robins. (Except when a Tournament is or long weekend is scheduled - See Calendar / Bulletin Board.
• Monday and Thursday Mornings - The Morning Mixes (what else?)
• June, July, August - Come out and watch the angst and enjoy the suspense at the Club Championships

EXTRAS ~ Lessons and Programs ~ Glendale offers both adult and junior lessons through the club professional. Additional junior programs have been organized to promote improvement in skills and confidence and enjoyment of the game. See our Pro's Page
