From: "Glendale Tennis Club" Subject: Glendale Opening Day Round Robin and League Information Date: April 24, 2010 5:48 PM Dear Glendale Tennis Club Members, The weather is getting better with every passing week and three of our four courts are now ready for the season. I would like to extend special thanks to Dave McCarroll, the club’s Maintenance Director and to the other members who volunteered their time last Saturday to get the nets and windscreens up. Any past team captains or volunteers with keys that are no longer needed should please contact Dave at 905-831-0298 dave@dfmc.on.ca to return them so they can be redistributed. As the weather heats up so too does the club’s leagues and events. Here is an update on what’s coming up in the next several weeks. * Opening Day Round Robins* This year, we officially kick off the season on *Sunday, May 2nd.* Dust off your racquet, find your tennis shoes, play a little, make new acquaintances and have lunch (generously sponsored by Barrie Cox) - from 10AM to 2PM. Come join us for some food and fun! Junior members get their own Opening Day event on *Saturday, May 8th* from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. *House Leagues* Late last season, court one was resurfaced but has yet to be painted, leaving only three playable courts. The City of Pickering has indicated that painting should be completed by mid to late May. As a result, the start of the Thursday Night Competitive House League will be delayed to at least *Thursday, May 20th* but could change based on the availability of court one. League participants will be kept up to date by their team captains. Mike Campbell, our Thursday Night House League’s convener, is still looking for a few team captains. Please contact him at 905-839-8901 or camfam4@rogers.com if you can help. Our Tuesday Night and Sunday Night House Leagues are unaffected by the resurfacing of court one and will begin as scheduled in the club calendar. *DRCTL Teams* Glendale’s “A”, “B” and “C” teams have been selected and are ready to take on all challengers in the Durham Region Competitive Tennis League, which is expected to begin the second week of May. Thanks to Sid Stevens, the club’s Vice-President, and the team captains for their hard work during the tryouts and team selection process. The rosters for each team will be posted on the club’s website shortly. Many thanks, Martin Croteau President Glendale Tennis Club
